Our CPR-a-Thon challenge was created in 2022 as part of #TaniumGivesBack. Teams from Tanium held the 24-hour marathon and raised significant funds for our Charity, having great fun and learning new skills at the same time.
This year it is back and now open to teams from other companies as well as, of course, to our friends at Tanium.
This year's CPR-a-Thon will take place on 17-18 Oct.
Out of hospital cardiac arrest is a huge problem in the UK. Every year the ambulance service attempts to resuscitate around 30,000 people. Of these only one in ten will survive. For every minute without CPR, the chance of survival decreases by 10%.
We are looking for teams of 6-8 people to sign up for the second sponsered CPR-a-Thon to raise awareness of life saving CPR and raise much needed funds for South Central Ambulance Charity.
Learning CPR will give you the confidence and knowledge to deliver CPR and to use a defibrillator if you are ever faced with that situation. Increasing awareness of the opportunity to save a life through good quality bystander CPR is a skill for life.
Taking part in our CPR-a-Thon will teach you CPR, maintain your skills, raise valuable funds and provide you and your teams with a great challenge that will not only train you but help to train others across the community.
Teams will be tasked with undertaking CPR for 24 hours using a CPR manikin. In a relay of 30 chest compressions at a time, rotating between team members.
That's 144,000 compressions in 24 hours!
We are hoping to raise over £6,000 but to do that we need your help.
To put that into perspective that could help fund:
- The uniform and kit for two new Community First Responder Volunteers
- Keep 20 CFRs on the road for the next 12 months
- AND....if we can get to £10,000 it could fund a LUCAS 3 mechanical CPR device
